An ever-evolving programme
We have an excellent, inclusive and ever-evolving careers programme here at JAGS. Although careers support at JAGS begins from a young age, with regular talks from industry experts and careers advice on offer, it becomes much more extensive once pupils enter Year 12, and they begin to consider their future destination in earnest. We equip pupils with the confidence, skills, experience and qualifications to help them become life-long learners with a flexible, modern approach to the world of work. Together, the team at JAGS have a great deal of experience in advising students on the next stage of their journey and there are a multitude of specialist advisors on hand to help pupils, whether they are considering applying to Oxbridge, an overseas university or going straight into industry.

In Year 12, students can attend the UCAS exhibition and, for those who are interested, there is the opportunity to attend the Oxford and Cambridge Conference. We invite visiting speakers to the full-day Careers and Higher Education event in school, which provides information, advice and guidance about the wide range of progression routes available. We also hold an annual School Leaver and Gap Fair, which is open to students in both year groups to find out more about work-based opportunities including degree and higher apprenticeships. In Year 13, the Sixth Form tutors and Higher Education Team continue to support students through the application process, providing advice and guidance as students prepare for the admissions tests and interviews required by an increasing number of universities. All students are offered the opportunity to have a practice interview as part of the Friends of JAGS practice interview programme.
We strongly encourage pupils to engage in work placements and career-related experiences both in person and online. Our advisors are on-hand to offer sessions on CV writing and interview techniques to ensure pupils are in the best possible position to secure these placements.
