Welcome to the Junior School
A very warm welcome to JAGS Junior School. Our Junior School offers an outstanding and nurturing education to 300 pupils across our Pre-Prep (Reception to Year 2) and our Prep (Years 3 to 6) schools. Our dedicated and talented staff truly care about each of our pupils as individuals and we foster the values of kindness, commitment and generosity. Our school creates a sense of happiness, fun and warmth in which girls are motivated to work to the best of their abilities and to learn through play. Above all, both inside and outside the classroom, learning is fun. It is here at the Junior School, at the start of their exciting educational adventures, that pupils develop their passion for life and learning that so characterises JAGS.

Pre-Prep
Age 4-7
Welcome to JAGS Pre-Prep. We are situated in a large Edwardian family house which is filled with life and laughter. Here, we do everything we can to ensure that your daughter has the best possible start to her education within our supportive and happy community. Pupils flourish in our care, growing and developing their strong sense of self each day.
These early years are when children develop their curiosity, their relationships and learn vital social and life skills, and we have expert staff to provide outstanding teaching in a warm and nurturing environment. Pupils enjoy specialist teaching in Music, French, PE and Forest School throughout their time at the Pre-Prep. Our pupils adore our extensive gardens and we very much believe in the power of outdoor learning. Pupils are also encouraged to develop their love and appreciation of art, music and sport, both as part of our wide-ranging curriculum and through our extensive co-curricular programme.

Pupils are encouraged to have a growth mind-set; we encourage our pupils and challenge them, building resilient learners from a young age. Pupils learn that their mistakes are not failures and that they are an important part of learning. We put strong emphasis on the fact that achievement comes in a myriad of forms and should be celebrated on an individual basis.
Pupils quickly learn about how they can contribute to the world around them. They have a genuine interest in local and national charities, and they are eager and willing to help. Our pupils are also Eco reps and members of the School Council. They are encouraged to use their voice from a young age, with integrity, compassion and humility.
Pupils thrive because they believe that learning is fun, and we wholeheartedly encourage self-confidence and independence. Visitors often comment on the vibrant energy at our Pre-Prep – a buzz of fun, of play and of curiosity.
