Sport
Sixth Form students are encouraged to participate in sports and physical activities wherever possible, and many choose to spend lunchtimes and after-school playing sport or spending time in the gym. Our Sixth Form pupils are also excellent mentors for younger pupils, and often help out at clubs or fixtures. Each Wednesday afternoon, Sixth Formers have a timetabled slot in which they can choose from a range of sports to participate in. This includes athletics, yoga, spinning, rock climbing and swimming, as well as team sports such as football, netball, hockey and cricket. This is an excellent opportunity for pupils to take a break from their studies, to enhance their own well-being, have fun and to make new friends.

Co-educational Enrichment Programme
Our Sixth Formers participate in a co-educational enrichment programme with Dulwich College. Some courses are designed to complement A Level studies whilst others offer new areas of study. The wealth of options on offer caters to all tastes and interests, and examples of courses include computer programming, international development, an introduction to photography, mobile app design and quantum mechanics for beginners.
Skills for Life Programme
Alongside our exciting co-educational enrichment programme, pupils also take part in our Skills for Life programme. This is a series of three, nine-week courses that we believe benefit everyone. Pupils can choose from Thinking Skills, MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) and a First Aid at Work course.
Sixth Form Societies
Sixth Form societies help pupils to deepen the reach of their academic interests. These weekly super-curricular sessions involve teacher–student collaboration and include varied activities, from discussions to expert speakers and student presentations. Each of these experiences helps pupils prepare for the next stage of their journey, and adds an extra dimension when students are considering their university applications. There are many societies to choose from, covering Drama to Medicine to Art Appreciation, MFL and Physics. The societies are fully timetabled events and form an innovative, exciting and individualised pillar of our Sixth Form curriculum.

Clubs & Trips
Clubs and trips are an integral part of deepening pupils’ learning at JAGS. We offer pupils a number of day trips in London and the surrounding area, as well as residential trips all over the world. Residential trips offered to Sixth Form pupils in recent years have included a History trip to China, a Computer Science trip to New York, an Art trip to New York, a History of Art trip to Italy and numerous Modern Foreign Language trips to France, Germany and Spain.
Houses
There are four Houses at JAGS, each inspired by a significant figure in our history: Caroline Bettany, pioneering Headmistress, Lilian Clarke, innovative Botany teacher, Margaret Desenfans, sponsor of Dulwich Picture Gallery, and Gustav Holst, inspirational Music teacher. When pupils join JAGS, they join a House for the duration of their time here, which helps instil an ethos of teamwork and partnerships.
The House system is particularly important to the Sixth Form as it offers leadership opportunities to our pupils in the form of House Captains. The Captains are responsible for organising charity fundraisers, House Assemblies and inter-house competitions. Our younger girls look up to the Sixth Form for direction in planning charity events, giving assemblies, coaching for sports, music, art and drama inter-house competitions.
