JAGS pupils fly high with RAF

Just before the Half Term break, five JAGS RAF cadets joined other Combined Cadet Force (CCF) members from Dulwich College for an amazing flying day at RAF Benson, Oxford.

An incredible day which our Year 11s Elisabeth, Liberty, Molly, Harley-Jay and Phoebe won’t forget!

“It was a frosty early morning start but definitely worth it. With clear skies, zipped up coveralls, and our helmets strapped on we set off. Stepping into the Grob Tutor aircraft was at first a little nerve-racking, but this soon gave way to amazement as I flew the plane up and down in the early morning sky.

“The pilot gave me a quick rundown of all the many dials and controls that were displayed on the cockpit. The flight was jam-packed with barrel rolls, loop the loops and I even had a zero-gravity astronaut experience!

“I felt the force of three times my body weight in the loop the loops, all over picturesque views of Oxford and the surrounding countryside. Below us were the many grandiose colleges of Oxford and the world renowned Bodleian library, the second largest library in Britain. It was an unforgettable day, full of stunning views and an enthralling flight.

“Many thanks to Scott Swalwell  from Dulwich College for organising and accompanying us to the airfield.”

Elisabeth, Year 11
