Rosie (Year 12) called up to British Youth Windsurfing squad
Rosie’s hard work rewarded with prestigious call up to national squad
Congratulations to Rosie (Year 12) who was recently selected as one of the three female sailors in the British Youth Performance Squad for Windsurfing.
This year, Rosie has competed across the U17 categories during the European Championships in July, the Nordic Championships in August and most recently at the World Championships in Spain.
Speaking of the achievement, Rosie said: “Following these competitions I have been preparing to transition to the U19 category by travelling around and training every weekend in all wind and weather.
“While this is fun and rewarding it does mean that sometimes I have to miss a friend’s birthday or complete my homework in the back of the car on a Sunday evening.
“However, my recent selection as one of three female sailors in the British Youth Performance Squad has proved the effort has paid off. This selection is a significant milestone in my sailing career as it opens up many more training opportunities and I am optimistic that this will advance my performance, hopefully leading to me achieving higher scores in the upcoming European and World Championships in 2024.”
