The return of Popfest!
We enjoyed a fantastic evening of music from our talented performers.
There was a wonderful evening of heartfelt singing on Friday 28th January, with almost 30 students performing. The audience was treated to songs old and new, including Don’t Stop Me Now from Abinaya, Super Trouper by Marissa and Simply the Best by Pascale.
We were honoured that singer Louise Marshall could join us as adjudicator on the evening. Louise is a busy session singer who performs regularly with Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Band. She has toured with Beverley Knight, Michael Ball, Marti Pellow and Roxy Music, and worked with Robbie Williams, Ronnie Wood, Van Morrison and Paul Young to name but a few.
Louise was bowled over by the quality of the performances on the evening, and declared, “You’re all winners!” After a lot of deliberation, her first prize went to Erin and runner-up spot went to Daisy.
Special mentions were made of Pascale (Best Newcomer), Alayna and Jasmine (Best Group), Bonnie (Best Self Accompaniment), Aisha (Best Character Song) and Charlotte (Best Original Song).
A huge congratulations to everyone involved, and thank you to the Music Department, and our schoolkeepers and catering staff.
