JAGS Prep swimmers make a splash with summer trophy haul

Year 6 swimmers named National Champions as many pupils earn podium finishes across multiple contests.

The JAGS Prep Swimming Team are celebrating a successful Summer Term of competition which has seen the group pick up multiple accolades.

Earlier this month, the U10 and U11 teams travelled to the London Aquatics Centre in Stratford to compete in the Olympic pool for the Independent Association of Prep Schools’ (IAPS) National Swimming finals. Over 4,000 children competed in this year’s IAPS competition, so reaching the finals in itself was a major achievement.

Our U10 team performed fantastically, finishing second in the country for both the freestyle and medley relay.

We were delighted to see our U11 team win the entire event, finishing first and being named National Champions.

Samuel Saliba, Head of Swimming at JAGS Junior School, said: “This is a phenomenal achievement by the girls and such an exciting accolade for JAGS; the girls were competing against the best sports schools in the country and they have certainly made the whole school proud. It has been wonderful watching them improve so much this year.”

Elsewhere, the Swimming Team recently travelled to Sheffield’s Ponds Forge International Sports Centre to compete in the relay finals at the English Schools Swimming Association (ESSA) Primary Championships.

The team finished third in the country overall for the medley relay and sixth for the freestyle relay.

Mr Saliba added: “This is another amazing success for the girls at JAGS and I am so very proud of what they have achieved – as the progress into the Senior School next year, I’m sure you will agree with this a very fitting end to their time at JAGS Prep.”
