Year 10 students perform in spectacular production of Boudica
Congratulations to our Year 10 theatre company ‘In The Wings’ on their brilliant production of Boudica.
This week, we have enjoyed two brilliant performances of Boudica by Year 10 theatre company In the Wings. The story is set in Britannia in AD 61, where rebellion is brewing on the furthest outreaches of the Roman Empire. The King of the Iceni has died and his widow, Boudica, has tried to claim her rightful throne. For her
insolence in defying Rome, she and her daughters have been banished from their homeland. But now, Queen Boudica has returned. And this time she has an army.
She will have revenge. She will have blood. She will make Rome quake in fear.
Speaking about the prouduction, Director Roberta Zuric said, ‘In the Wings theatre company is a company formed solely of Year 10 students. It is a tailored way for them to perform in a full-length production and collaborate with their peers in bringing a story to life. This year, the company is staging their version of Boudica – one of England’s most famous warrior queens who leads a brutal rebellion against the invading Romans.
The company comprises of 23 actors and 10 backstage crew, and they have been rehearsing intensely since November. In addition to strengthening their acting and ensemble skills, the actors have also incorporated singing and sword fighting into the production.’
A huge congratulations to all involved!
