Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education is central to the overall ethos of our school. JAPS is a very happy community where there is a strong commitment to providing the children with first-class pastoral care, providing a variety of opportunities to extend their life skills and knowledge.
In the Pre-Prep and Prep School the children have a programme of weekly circle time/PSHCE lessons where many topics from Healthy Eating to Road Safety are open for discussion. In addition PSHCE themes are reflected upon during Assembly times. Visitors from out of school and outside agencies further enhance the curriculum and provide specialist input to develop the children's interest and learning.
Both the Pre-Prep and Prep School have a thriving School Council which gives every girl a 'voice', to help improve the school and to encourage everyone to become an active and responsible citizen. The school environment is high on this agenda and we have been awarded the Eco Schools Green Flag. Buddy Groups meet once every half term and allow further personal and social development. This enables close bonds to be forged and a high level of care and individual understanding to develop.
