Our pupils derive immense benefit and enjoyment from sport and it is valued highly. From Reception to Year 6, PE lessons are used to build skills and abilities and to promote health and wellbeing. We are fortunate in sharing JAGS' 22 acre site and have the benefit of extensive playing fields and a superb, state-of-the-art, 25 metre swimming pool, which all JAPS pupils use.
Our swimming, biathlon, cross-country and netball teams have consistently been successful in many London and national championships. Both the Pre-Prep and Prep Schools have a hall with gymnastic equipment.
Each girl participates in two lessons of PE each week in addition to swimming lessons which continue throughout the year. In Pre-Prep, Reception girls begin swimming lessons at Easter. Pupils enjoy a variety of games, gym and dance activities which build their engagement and confidence. The athletic skills which the pupils develop throughout their years in Pre-Prep provide a sound basis for the sports that we teach higher up the school. Once they have made the move up to the Prep School, girls are introduced to football, netball, hockey, dance, rounders, tennis, athletics and gym. All pupils will have regular contact with specialist PE teachers and swimming instructors.
All girls have the opportunity to join extra-curricular sports clubs (non-competitive) and squads (competitive). Inter-House sports competitions take place each term alongside a full sports fixtures list which covers weekly matches and annual tournaments.
If your daughter is a suitable Year 6 candidate we can support applications for the Sports Exhibition at JAGS and other schools.
