Drama is seen as crucial in developing teamwork and self-confidence. Drama is integrated throughout the curriculum in the Pre-Prep and is used in assemblies. Each Pre-Prep child will be involved in a play during the school year. Children engage in a variety of role play activities during the course of spontaneous play in the Reception classes, as well as during more structured lessons in KS1 which will often be linked to topic or other writing activities.
All Prep School pupils have a weekly Drama lesson. Each year two large-scale plays are produced, the Year 4 play is performed in the Spring Term and, during the Summer Term, the Year 6 play is staged in JAGS' superbly equipped Prissian Theatre.
Many Prep School pupils also take private Speech and Drama lessons at JAPS.
