Congratulations to the Year 10 GCSE Drama groups whose original take on the genre of ghost stories left us blinking nervously in the dark. Drawing on their own reading and observations of techniques used in productions such as ‘The Woman in Black’, the 45 girls devised four chilling pieces:  ‘The Doll’, ‘The Weeping Willow’, ‘The Lake’ and ‘Cedar’s Secrets’, and worked together to direct, act, design and stage manage the productions, shown to parents and friends on 27 May. Using sound, lighting, set, costume and props, each group created an excellent sense of period and found opportunities for distinctive characterisation. Ranging from the playful to the darkly sinister, they built atmospheres that grew in intensity and wove storylines seamlessly together to the point of no return.  Well done to them all for achieving so highly in their assessment.

It’s that time of year when the focus is briefly on examinations in different subjects across the senior school, to give everyone a chance to show where they are right now.  From Year 7 to Year 13 we wish them all well.
