"Don't get stressed get Straussed"
This was the motto of the sixth form study trip to Vienna this February half-term holidays, which included one evening of a concert with all the classic Viennese waltzes and melodies.
We braved temperatures dropping to a very unpleasant -9 degree Celsius but that gave us ample reason to beat the grim temperatures with lots of coffee and cake! The sightseeing was enjoyable, too, and we saw the imperial castle Schönbrunn and learned about the life and times of emperor Franz-Joseph and his wife Elisabeth. Vienna's second castle, Belvedere, houses a beautiful collection of paintings by Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele. We also enjoyed the pretty and very old zoo in Vienna, the National Gallery and a really interesting guided tour of Sigmund Freud's Viennese home and consulting room.
It was a tremendous and stimulating experience and we shall remember it for a long time!
