Spring
It was a lovely way to start assembly, coming into the Holst Hall with Jessie Kolvin, Y9, playing beautiful piano music including Chopin: Mazurka, Kabalevsky: Sonatina no 2 and Fauré: Romance sans Paroles.
We celebrated wonderful news of becoming National Champions at national schools sports events in Northumberland (Cross Country) and at Crystal Palace (Biathlon). See separate news story.
Y13 Rebekka Hermo spoke today to encourage us to collect stationery items for 100 children at the Bush Fire Children’s Home in Uganda where she’s working this summer. Lots of energy goes into raising funds and awareness of charities here. Last week the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, organised by Y12, made £757.16 for the Eve Appeal charity in Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, working to fund research. This week we look forward to a lunchtime treat - JAGS’ Got Talent - and opportunities to buy Easter eggs for the Desenfans House charity, Trinity Hospice. Thursday launches our Japan Appeal across the whole school. We’ll learn to make origami birds, work towards making 1000, a lucky number in Japan, and wear Japanese-themed own clothes on Tuesday 5 April.
If that doesn’t keep the girls occupied, they can be writing competition entries on the theme of Heroes for the English pages in the school magazine, and be taking photos for a Geography competition on the theme of A Habitat For JAGS Girls. What will they devise?!
Congratulations to all the new Year 7 Form Captains.
