Congratulations to Y9 Georgie Hay who was crowned U15 800m champion in the South of England Indoor Championships at Picketts Lock, Lea Valley on Sunday.

Georgie trains three or four times weekly with Herne Hill Harriers.  She’s been running with the local club for three years and is proving to be an exciting prospect for the future.

The club is very proud of her and believe they have uncovered a new talent in 14 year old Georgie. Herne Hill Secretary Steve Bosley said “She ran a great tactical race at Lea Valley, beating runners who were technically faster than her. But she got into the lead quickly and dominated the pace. When her opponents tried to narrow the gap on her at the finish, she had got herself into a position where at the final kick-out she could not be passed.”

Georgie is relaxed about the future, and enjoys athletics and cross country equally. Middle-distance coach James Macdonald will be keeping a close eye on her progress, as will we all! Well done Georgie!
