Adolescent issues
We all face challenges as teenagers and parents and today's world can be difficult. Supporting teenagers as they find their way to adulthood is instinctive, but there are skills parents can learn. Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Geraldine Strathdee, one of our school governors, tackled some of the issues of growing up for the large audience of parents in the Holst hall last night. Put to work themselves, groups of parents offered excellent suggestions for handling the case scenarios Emma Mayo, Head of Years 7-9, had created for discussion. It is a partnership with school and the medical profession. Together with headmistress Marion Gibbs, Geraldine Strathdee and Emma Mayo shared tips from long experience of working with teenagers. Just listening to other parents talking sense helps too. There were lots of laughs!
