JAGS girls know their Bortsch from their Caviar, their Einstein from their Becker! In a flamboyant start to today’s Language Day, each House ran a lively quiz in assembly, distinguishing one country’s culture from another. Answers from the Year 7-13 pupil audience were in foreign languages too. Crikey! Then it was off to lunch to get some well-deserved brain-food, this year with a German flavour: Zwei Bohnen suppe (bean and ham soup), Bauernborg brod (wholemeal bread), Bratwurst sausage mit Rostie Kartoffel (traditional German sausage) and Apfel (apple)sauce.
Don’t worry about the calories – it’s only one day and the girls danced them all off in the disco that followed, mirroring the moves of the video stars in Russian, Spanish, Italian, German, French and Japanese. Certain staff gave them a run for their money too. Congratulations to the Modern Foreign Languages department and to all the JAGS Disco Babies!
