Congratulations to Abigail Cheng and to Madeleine Capstick, whose designs have highly impressed the Royal Geographical Society.
The girls entered a poster competition on the theme: What Should Every Geographer Understand? Madeleine’s idea was to use a jigsaw motif, fitting together pieces representing skills and knowledge; for example, Using Maps, Collecting Data, Weather Systems, and Consequences of Hazard. In her finished piece Abigail’s map of the world shows the concept of linking things you have already learnt with new knowledge to give you a better understanding.
Both girls made the final shortlist out of a thousand entries.
