SSLP arose from a DfES (now DfE)/London Challenge project for cross-sector working – aimed at raising levels of students’ engagement and achievements and providing professional development for staff. It has also received financial support in the past from the Sutton Trust. It was set up in October 2003 by its two Directors, Dr Irene Bishop, Head of St Saviour’s & St Olave’s CE School and Mrs Marion Gibbs, Head of James Allen’s Girls’ School.
The nine original schools were three independent and six maintained. They were Alleyn’s, Dulwich College and James Allen’s Girls’ (all independent) and The Globe Academy (in 2003 called Geoffrey Chaucer TC) Harris Girls’ Academy, East Dulwich (in 2003 called Waverley School), Kingsdale, St Michael & All Angels Academy (in 2003 called Archbishop Michael Ramsey TC), St Saviour’s & St Olave’s CE School and Walworth Academy (in 2003 called Walworth School).
The following eleven schools (eight maintained, three independent) participated in our partnership during 2010-11: Alleyn’s School, The Charter School, Dulwich College, The Globe Academy, James Allen’s Girls’ School, Kingsdale School, St Michael & All Angels Academy, St Michael’s RC School, St Saviour’s & St Olave’s CE School, St Thomas the Apostle College and Walworth Academy.
