On Tuesday 22nd June the Geography department took 15 AS level Geographers to the site of the London Olympics for a talk from members of the ODA and a tour of the Olympic Park.  The girls heard senior members of the ODA team talk about the legacy of the London Olympics and the strategies they put in place to ensure that the environmental impact of the games is positive and sustainable. The girls enjoyed hearing about the environmental issues which included relocating all the wildlife, amongst which were thousands of newts and turtles, during the building works and then bringing it all back again when the park is finished.   In the afternoon they spent some time working in the London Docklands, part of the ‘Bridge to A2’ course, in preparation for an A2 unit on World Cities which the girls undertake next year.
