Sports news and fixture results

We have heard exciting news of Julia Wedmore, Year 13. Julia competed in the British Triathlon championships and came 4th and has now been selected for the European championships (in Spain) and the World age groups championships (in Budapest) in September.  She has been training with a former International swimmer! Congratulations Julia.

GCSEs or not, Katie Snowden is still running! She came first in the South of England U20s at Crystal Palace on the weekend of 12/13 June in the 800m; and again on 20 June at the U20s England Championships which she won (400m), getting a PB and  beating both the defending champion aged 18 and Victoria Oheurugo (sister of Christine) who is currently ranked number 1.  It was also the World Junior Trials (to be held in Canada in July) but Katie missed the qualifying time by a small margin.  She is waiting to see whether they will select her in spite of not getting the time.  Congratulations to the Junior and Intermediate athletics teams who competed at the Regional Track & Field Championships last week – the Intermediate team finished in 5th place and the Junior team won their competition.  The Juniors now go on to the National Finals in Newcastle on 3rd July.

We have a number of girls representing London boroughs in the London Youth Games at Crystal palace on I July. Don’t be shy! If you have been selected and haven’t told us, the PE department and Mrs Venn would love to hear from you.

Fixture results from week beginning 14 June:

U12 Tennis v Bromley – Won
U13 Rounders v Bromley A team – Lost,  B team - Won
U12 St Dunstans Rounders Tournament – everyone played extremely well and we ended up in 3rd place overall.

Congratulations to all these girls.
