After the excitement of the Paul Nash exhibition, which proved to be one of the most successful held at Dulwich Picture Gallery, attracting over 42,000 visitors, we are delighted to announce the winners of the Paul Nash competition, set up by the Gallery.

Ian Dejardin said that Helen Simpkiss’s  acrylic painting was -

very beautiful,  showing considerable sensitivity to one of Nash’s regular themes – the magalith – but also reflecting something of Nash’s cool moonlight tonality and sense of mystery’.

Emily Quinn, pictured with her Paul Nash book and award, won the public vote and Flora Loughridge was given a special mention for coming a close second. Helen is travelling on her gap year but her mother collected her award for the public vote on her behalf at the Private View of the Wyeth Family exhibition at DPG on 14 June.

Congratulations to these winners and to everyone who had her work exhibited. The gallery was impressed by the quality of the interpretations in variety of media.
