There’s nothing quite like having a role model to inspire you. Year 9 JAGS athlete Sophie Parkes was invited to the Meridian School in Greenwich along with Louise Little, a member of the GB Judo Team and David Bolarinwa who is ranked 2nd in the world for the 100m in his age group. The purpose of the visit was to inspire and motivate a group of 250 primary pupils to take part in sport.Let’s hope it works.
As the youngest of the three, Sophie certainly rose to the occasion. She worked out what she would say and even took her running spikes and some medals along to show the little ones who were really interested. Sophie answered lots of questions from the little children and in a language that they understood. When one little boy of about six years old asked "Can you run as fast as a Lamborghini? She replied "Not just yet"!
