Marathon and other Sports news

JAGS was well represented with 15 girls running in the 2010 Mini –Marathon race on 25 April, the last 3 miles of the adult course. In the London Borough competition these girls managed to gain top 10 final placings:

11 – 12 years race: Victoria Picken 9th

13 – 14 years race: Sophie Parkes 2nd and Grace de Rome 3rd

15 – 17 years race: Katie Snowden 3rd

This is a fantastic achievement! Congratulations and well done to all the girls who took part. It was all worth it for the goodie bag, according to Grace and Sophie. They ran ahead of the adults and relished the ‘Go Southwark!’ cheers from the crowds lining their route from London Bridge through Borough Market and Buckingham Palace. It was hard work breaking out from the bunching at the start, but clearly they found open space. Amazing atmosphere! What an experience!
