The Year 9 Japanese group visited Sadler’s Wells to see a Kabuki show (in Japanese) on 11th June. The Kabuki show “Yoshitsune and the thousand cherry trees” has captured young people’s hearts by its exotically stunning stage design, fancy acrobatic tricks and intriguing plot. It was just hard for the girls to take their eyes off the stage because everything changed so quickly in a show which illustrated history in the most vivid way possible.
Owing to Ichikawa Ebizou, the leading actor who played the fox Genkuro, Kabuki is no longer just an old traditional art form but also a part of modern art that attracts both the old and the young. His remarkable performance has left us with an unforgettable evening.
