Put charismatic Italian actor Eugenio di Giorgi in the JAGS theatre, packed with keen students of Italian from Years 8-13 and you are heading for a wonderful time! Eugenio introduced, in Italian, the individual Commedia
dell’Arte characters to the audience, demonstrating their distinctive masks and quirky mannerisms and it wasn’t long before volunteers were trying them out for themselves. Pantalone, Capitano, Dottore and the servants Zanni, Arlecchino and Brighella came vividly to life in expressive movement, gesture and sound. Three cheers for the girls who bravely imitated the master and made us laugh – and learn – so much.
