The UKMT Team Mathematical Challenge 2010 is a national mathematics competition which gives pupils from Years 8 and 9 the opportunity to participate in a wide range of mathematical activities and compete against other pupils from schools in their region. Pictured here are Claire McHale, Monisha Persaud, Katharine Lyness and Emma Mittelman who qualified for the JAGS team and attended the Regional Final at Trinity with Mr Nicholls on March 19th. It was a full day of stretching questions, but without extra training the girls rose to the occasion and came 8th out of 31 teams. Well done!

The Intermediate Mathematical Challenge 2010 attracted huge interest: 254 girls from Years 9, 10 and 11 participated in February and received 74 Bronze, 40 Silver and 17 Gold certificates.Congratulations to all the medallists and especially to  Year 11 Maria Young who receive the Best in School certificate. The 5000 top scoring pupils in Years 9, 10 and 11 from across the country are invited to sit the European Kangaroo and Olympiad papers.  Congratulations to the following girls who took the paper in March and are waiting for the results with fingers crossed: Year 9 Suzanne Bristow, Mair Dew, Anjali Garg, Year 10 Sian Evans and Year 11 Melanie Duncan, Lauma Kalns-Timans, Bea Natzler and, of course, Maria Young.
