There are special moments at JAGS, and then there are super- special moments. Anyone who came to the Gospel Choir Night on Friday 26 February will tell you how good it felt to be there. Watching the pupil-led choir you could see from their faces and the way they worked together how much it meant to them. The audience was completely involved in the performance, and it was great to see how many opportunities there were for girls from Years 7-13 to show their singing or dancing talents in solo or small group spots. Leader Luiga Senteza and Year 8 Flo Savage gave one of the most moving performances in a beautiful interpretation of ‘Footprints in the Sand’.
Grace Johnson, a Head Girl, grabbed the microphone to express what we were all thinking –this is what JAGS does best. The Gospel Choir draws on pupils across the years and from all backgrounds, uniting them in a passion for singing. They’ve taken the initiative to run the choir themselves, to rehearse to performance level in local churches and Cheshire Homes for example, strengthening their own sense of community as well as having fun. All this in support of Sparrow Schools, with whom the Gospel Choir has been linked for 10 years. The evening raised £844 for the Sparrows. Thank you for your inspiration, Gospel Choir.
