Russian is flourishing at JAGS! A large group of Russian teachers from all over England gathered here on Saturday 13 March for their annual conference and training day.

The Russian Teachers’ Group was created by a group of enthusiastic Russian teachers to promote Russian language learning in the UK. Their aims - to share best practice, resources and to keep up to date with current events for Russian language teachers – were well met here on Saturday. Katya Solovyova spoke about new materials for Key Stage 3 and 4 and Daphne West discussed new editions of Teach Yourself Russian; Mike Nicholson from the University of Oxford opened our eyes to Oxford and Rasputin, and there were seminars on the Siege of Leningrad through the eyes of British school children, and on teaching Russian one to one. A choir from an orthodox church school sang beautifully- a perfect starter before a lovely lunch!
