In assembly this week we paid a small homage to David Tennant, the last Doctor Who, pictured here outside the TARDIS, that marvellously deceptive time machine and space craft.  (Did you know the letters stand for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space?)

It may look like a police box, but a TARDIS is a product of the advanced technology of the Time Lords, an extraterrestrial civilization to which the science fiction programme's central character, the Doctor, belongs. It can transport travellers to any point in time and space. The interior of a TARDIS is much larger than its exterior, which can blend in with its surroundings through the ship's "chameleon circuit".

If you want any more information about the TARDIS, Year 7 Catriona Gibbs can probably tell you; she has just designed a new console for it, winning her a Blue Peter badge for being in the top 10 for her age group nationally. Catriona’s design (which is now copyright of the BBC) incorporates imaginative use of everyday objects, including a pinball machine, a watering can, a kettle lid and a resister. Well done Catriona!
