The Cornflower League – Y6 Rounders Tournament

Once again JAPS hosted the Y6 Rounders Tournament for all schools in the Cornflower League.  Unfortunately only four out of the seven schools could attend this year but the competition was as fierce as ever.  This was the first time this team had played together in a match and with only two training sessions under their belts, we were all rather nervous.  JAPS looked focused and determined in the first match against Blackheath Prep, who did not seem to have an answer to JAPS’ fielding skills.  JAPS won the first game 6-1.  In the second match JAPS batted first, scoring 9 rounders; the highest score by any one team in the tournament.  St Dunstan’s could not match JAPS’ batting power and only managed 2 ½ rounders.  The tournament hinged on the final game against Sydenham High and JAPS scored a creditable but beatable 6.  Our fielders tried hard to contain their excitement and remain focused to the end.  JAPS only allowed Sydenham to score 2½ rounders and, in doing so, became tournament winners!

Many congratulations to the following girls who performed so well last Friday:
