Mini-Marathon Magic!

Thirteen JAGS girls ran in the London mini marathon on Sunday 26 April.  Whatever you eat for breakfast I bet you weren’t up at 6am on like young Natasha Sinha, Year 7, tucking into a bowl of porridge and glass of fruit juice and thinking about the race ahead. Natasha found the 3 mile race ‘challenging and fun’, even if it was the longest last 8oo yards she’s ever run. I think the porridge helped to sustain her because she came 7th in the 11-12 age-group in the Borough Competition.

A special mention must be made of two outstanding individual performances from Grace de Rome, Year 8, who came 4th overall in the girls 13 -14 age group,

and Katie Snowden, Year 10, who came 5th in the 15 -17 age group in the Borough Competition.

Grace calculated her race on the strength of two pieces of toast. She thought the finish line was round the corner when she still had half the race to run, but determination carried her through, and crossing the line eventually was really emotional. Coming into the same finish as the adults would do later gave her a huge push. The adrenalin was still pumping round her body by the time she finished her race. What an experience!

Congratulations to all the JAGS girls who ran.  We hope they relaxed that evening and slept well, secure in the knowledge that they had done themselves –and us –proud. There were well over 300 girls in each race.  Fantastic news! Well done!
