Japanese Cake and German Metropolis
On Monday 22 June Mr Okura and Mr Arora accompanied this year’s winners of the international Free Spirit Poem and Song competition to the award ceremony at the Goethe Institut in South Kensington.
Anne-Marie Bartsch (Year 10) who won runner-up in the German poem category read out her work “Die Großstadt [Metropolis]” in front of an international jury and guests from schools across Great Britain.
Ayesha Williams, Gayle Griffith, Hannah Blows, Chloe Clerck and Xiaohe Sun (all Year 12) performed their catchy winning song in Japanese about making a cake. It took the jury by storm and won the first prize in the song category for other languages.
Alison Eson and Pooja Patel in Year 12 could not attend, but they share the success of the Japanese group.
All in all, some excellent performances and we would like to congratulate all winners!
