We are pausing to reflect on some important achievements in athletics so far this term for JAGS girls.  In the main Southwark Schools Championships, both our Junior and Intermediate teams were convincing winners, several girls gaining personal best times and distances, with half the team now being chosen to represent Southwark in the London Schools Championships next month.

Our Year 7 Athletics team (pictured here) took part in the invitational Bromley Schools competition.  There were some excellent performances with many girls winning their respective events.
The Junior and Intermediate Track and Field teams were impressive in the 1st round of the National Schools competition: the junior team were winners and the Intermediate team came 2nd.  Both teams scored very highly and now go forward to the South East round of the competition.
The Year 7 and Year 8 teams both convincingly won their respective Southwark Championships this term.  A record number of JAGS girls have now been selected for the London Schools competition.

A special mention must go to three girls who have broken school athletics records this half term – Katie Snowden in the Year 10 800m, Alicia Johnson-Cole in the Year 10 Discus and Ella Balinska in the Year 7 Javelin.  Congratulations to all of you!
