There are some very proud girls out there, not to mention parents!

Friday night was a revelation of talent and professionalism. And The Fridays, a group of Year 7 (Alicia Harris, Georgie Cole, Grace Bryan and Morgen Evans), won Best Original Composition for their piece: A Good Time. Inspired by Guitar Club, singing lessons and encouraged by Mr Monks, Grace and Morgen wrote lyrics for the band. A first. Favourite band: The Saturdays-obviously-and favourite singer: Katherine Jenkins - for Morgen anyway.

Ellie Tucker, Olivia Shackleton, Talia Yilmaz, Jessica Brough and Georgie Stenhouse, couldn’t remember exactly why they’d chosen Hot and Cold by Katie Perry for their band. Judged to have given the Best Performance, they said today that they’d had fun, it had been exhilarating and that they’d learned to work together. They loved the audience participation. (Favourite band: Panic at the Disco)

We know where the inspiration came from for India Marlow-Prince and Rosy Murch - Rosy’s dad! Having been in the navy, he supplied the hats and Candy Man by Christine Aguiliera was meant to be a tribute act at his birthday party! (Very belated, many happy returns). Olivia and Rosie liked the fun, upbeat atmosphere and seeing their friends having a good time. Not surprisingly, they were voted audience favourite and got to perform twice – with confetti!

The lighting created a stunning ambience in the theatre and a packed audience, spilling out to the foyer, savoured every moment. It was a very special atmosphere, particularly supportive of the youngest, and full of deeply impressive acts.
