YEAR TWO DYEING & WEAVING WORKSHOPS: 20 & 23 March 2009

All pupils in Year Two thoroughly enjoyed the workshops last Friday and Monday in connection with this term’s topic ‘An Island Home – Comparative study with The Isle of Coll’. The lady who ran the workshops showed the children how to weave a blanket. First of all the children had to colour match the wool to a picture of Coll. Some chose stormy colours, other chose colours which reflected the sea. They learnt about the warp and the weft and made a weft facing fabric using wool. The results are proudly displayed in the classrooms.
