Spring
Congratulations to all the new, Spring term Form Captains who were awarded their badges this morning. Apart from representing their form’s views on School Council, their responsibilities include taking an active part in Pupil Voice, this year’s initiative for the Southwark Schools’ Learning Partnership, where pupils across all 9 state and independent schools have been engaged in discussions about what makes a good lesson, and what pupils can do to contribute to its worth.
Hannah Tilson, Helen Harvey and Amy Magistris have good cause to celebrate; they have achieved distinctions in Grade 5 trombone, Grade 2 recorder and Grade 1 piano respectively. Well done.
Don’t forget the Multicultural evening on Friday 30th January at 7pm. Details are on the promo banner on the website. This week sees the start of the Italian and French clubs for the term, and Bettany House have arranged for girls to watch a film as a charity event to raise money for Links India. Lots of other events offer interesting ‘diversions’: tonight there’s an informal concert for music scholars and sixth formers have an after-school seminar to discuss John Milton’s Paradise Lost, Year 7 girls will be visiting Greenwich Royal Observatory and the National Gallery, the German Exchange partner school NCG (Nicolaus Cusanus Gymnasium) visits JAGS for a day, and there are trips to Tchaikovsky's Queen of Spades at the Barbican and to see Derek Jacobi in Twelfth Night, to name but a few opportunities.
