We are kicking the term off to a great start in sports results! In matches against Alleyn’s last week the U12 A, B, C & D teams won convincingly in all the games, and the U15 A & B teams also won. The U16 Hockey team drew against Alleyn’s, and in the Sevenoaks Plumtre trophy the 1st X1 came 4th out of 7 teams. Well done to all these teams.

In assembly Headmistress Mrs Gibbs awarded Yemi Sofolarin, Year 8, a trophy and a medal for coming 1st in the Kent Athletics Championships in both Javelin and Discus, and for coming 3rd in the Shot Putt. In the same competition Natasha Sinha, Year 8,  also received a medal for coming 2nd in the 800m. Many congratulations.

There’s lots to look forward to: meetings about trips including the French exchange to Montpellier, or to see the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Switzerland, or the Silver D of E expedition closer to home. There’s a workshop led by the Oxford Debating Union, an Italian Film Club meeting and a European Day of Languages on Friday, including special lunchtime cuisine and an International Top of the Pops in the Holst Hall.

Mrs Gibbs reminded us all about the care we take at all ages to conserve our environment. The photo shows a member of the JAPS Gardening Club with a home-grown cauliflower, one of the many vegetables they grow and were able to give for Harvest Festival at St Barnabas.
