Year 10 GCSE Art Trip to the Victoria & Albert Museum

On Tuesday, November 10th, several coaches of JAGS’ Year 10 art students spent a relatively restful and very enjoyable day at the V&A, exploring the theme of ‘Organic Pattern’. On our arrival at the museum, we split into our groups and went to explore a different part of the museum, ranging from the textile gallery- the iron work gallery- to the Islamic tile gallery. We had a peaceful morning of drawing (aided with bags of haribo!)-  from what caught our eyes in the gallery that related to our theme. We met up for lunch and the traditional trip to the gift shop, where we bought postcards for our sketchbooks and many other not so educational items! Then it was time for our next gallery and we split up again for the afternoon’s work. We then went onto make a more involved tonal piece. By the end of the day we had sore hands and legs but several drawings which will be very useful in context to our studies in the classroom. It was good to have the opportunity of spending so much time looking at one piece. On the way back we felt tired but happy, and, although Mr Carter was forced to silence our brilliant rendition of ‘I’m yours’ for the sake of our long suffering coach driver, the trip was a huge success and we would like to thank the art department for organising it for us.
