Perhaps a visit to the dentist over half-term?  Most of us won’t be going to India for it, but Vidhi Patel, Year 10, and her family are making a remarkable trip to Ahmedabad in Gujurat, NW India to offer dental treatment to children there. Vidhi told her year group about it recently. She and her brother have been trained to assist their parents, both professional  dentists, so that together they can be involved in providing a dental service for the independent charity Samvedana. They will be busy: the charity supports 400 children and runs a day school to try to keep slum children off the streets.

185 children have been lined up for them to treat in the local dental surgery they have rented; going to the dentist will be a new adventure. But it will be more than treatment; when she is not teaching oral health, Vidhi will be playing games and sport with the children.
