Autumn
We share world-wide concerns about the fragile nature of our environment and are doing our best to care for it. We have the support of architect Mr Michael Brooke, a JAGS governor with special responsibility for helping us to implement our eco-approach here. He joined us at a recent assembly led by Deputy Head Mrs Deborah Bicknell, who inspired us all to take a dynamic role.
Does JAGS have an eco award? We have a bronze award, but we’re aiming for the top: we want to be the first Southwark school to have a Green Flag - the highest eco award.
Everyone can make a contribution to our green initiatives; it’s the responsibility of us all. 35 computers turned off saves a tonne of C02 over the course of the year. 25% of us (in the senior school) walk to school, more of us than ever, and Tuesday 22 September, being International Car-Free Day, will perhaps start a new habit for some.

Let’s focus on what we can do in our own environment. If each of us in the whole school makes a little difference, added together, it makes a big difference. Find out more about the Kyoto Protocol. Listen to what the leaders say about preventing climate change and global warming. Follow the discussion in Copenhagen in 2012. Join the JAGS Environment Group at the senior school, every Tuesday at 1.15pm.
