Free Spirit Poetry and Song Competitions: JAGS winners again
The Modern Foreign Languages department is delighted to announce that JAGS has been awarded several prizes again this year in this national MFL competition. There were over 1,000 entries, and only 16 prizes, as follows: First and Runners-up prizes for song and poem in French, German, Spanish and “other languages”.

Each girl was presented with £25 at a ceremony held at the Goethe Institut on Monday 16th June.
In the last few years, JAGS has won prizes for songs and poems in French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish. Next year it could be for Japanese too!! 4 ambitious members of staff (only one a linguist) joined the GCSE Japanese classes and are waiting with the same combination of excitement and apprehension for their own results this August!
