WORLD BOOK DAY: March 6th

The library held a book sale in school on March 4th, to celebrate World Book Day and to allow the girls to use their £1 vouchers towards buying a book. The local bookshop,  in Carlton Avenue, came into school at lunchtime and set up their stall in the Judge Hall for a 12.50am start. They brought a mixture of books aimed at all year groups, having liaised with the librarian in the preceeding weeks.

By 2pm the tables were almost bare of stock, and the girls who attended had managed to buy over £1100 worth of books, using vouchers, cash and credit slips. The distinctive Village Books bags were to be seen under many of the girls’ arms across the rest of the day, and another successful venture with the bookshop was achieved.  These sales normally take place in March and again in October, when National Book Week is celebrated in school.
