The Ballroom at Buckingham Palace
We are very proud of ten girls from Years 9 to 11 who successfully auditioned to play for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Ceremony, to be held in the Ballroom at Buckingham Palace on 28th May. The brass quartet will play extracts from Handel’s ‘Music for the Royal Fireworks’ as guests come in, and the strings and woodwind will play Mozart quartets and a Bottesini sextet during dinner. The same girls are also playing for two inauguration ceremonies at King’s College Hospital, on 22nd and 29th May, so they will be busy over half-term!
We should be playing a triumphant fanfare to salute these girls:
Madeleine Taylor and Harriet Wedmore on trumpet, Jenny Lanigan on horn, Freddie Onslow on trombone, Alice Taylor on flute, Maggie Lund on clarinet, Jessica Tang and Harriet Godwin on violin, Eleanor Makower on viola and Emma Van Oss on cello, not forgetting of course their tutor, Caroline Davis.
