JAGS Art Fair vacancies to read and so.. For Prospective Parents & Girls food and thought
Spring

The title Viva! truly represents the lively vibe of this year’s fund-raising evening on Friday 22 February, celebrating the different cultures of the world with an exciting fusion of words, music and dance from around the globe.

From the first performance: Yahooze!, the essence of African dance, the talented company whirled its huge audience enthusiastically through a fire-dance and Dandiya dance from India, through Rock’n’Roll, Flamenco, to Bollywood and Bhangra. The Japanese group gave us a super-intensive lesson on phrases you just might need to know, the harmonies of the spirited Gospel choir were gorgeous, and the Russian singers left us enchanted by the contemplative sound of their folk song.

The Jazz Band got us all in relaxed mood for the second half. Music played on a Gu Zhang, a traditional Chinese string instrument and the harp were beautiful additions to the programme. But the toe-tapping, foot stamping, line-dancing gave us all a chance to join in the final, vigorous celebrations.

You might not want to admit that you came for the food, but if you did, this year’s organisers would not have disappointed you! With donations from local restaurants as well as from hard-working parents, we feasted on tastes from around the world.

Harvest Help, a charity organisation based in rural Africa will be thrilled to receive a cheque in excess of £1400.00. We learnt about their work from a speaker in Assembly, and Harvest Help Ambassador, Susan Barlow travelled from Shropshire to be with us for the evening. You can visit their website on: www.harvesthelp.org

Congratulations to the Year 12 organisers Zainab Mohiuddin, Priya Patel, Riya Verma, Renata Stephens and Emily Bradley, Manisha Natarajan and to their hard-working team.
