Year 10 Working visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum.
On Thursday 8th November The Art Department took Year 10 pupils to the Victoria and Albert Museum in connection with their project ‘Overlap and Interlock’. It was a great opportunity to learn from a wide variety of artefacts and see how various visual disciplines might share similarities with one another. Pupils drew in the Cast Courts, from wrought iron work, fine textile designs, lace, architectural models and Islamic screens to find inspiring references for the GCSE coursework. It was a wonderful opportunity to draw from the museum’s collection and should help the pupils to identify with the design and drawing in their own, studio based work.

We travelled by coach to be at the Museum by 10 am and each pupil made three one hour drawings. We had lunch in the museum and returned to school for the end of the day. The trip has given many pupils a taster of the amazing collection and many want to return. It was a great day out!
