Jasspa Staff Concert in aid of Musequality
Last summer we were introduced to Musequality when David Juritz, leader of the London Mozart Players, busked his way around the world in order to raise money for this very special musical charity. You too may have seen some of the press coverage David received, as there were regular reports of his whereabouts from the BBC. Inspired by both David and Musequality, Jasspa has decided to support this charity in two ways.
STAFF CONCERT
On Sunday 24th February at 4pm Jasspa’s music teachers are putting on a concert. Many teachers will be performing, from solos to duos and our very own Staff Big Band!! David Juritz will also be making a guest appearance to tell us a little about Musequality and to perform some solo Bach – something he practiced a lot whilst busking! The concert will last a little over one hour and refreshments will be served afterwards with the opportunity to meet and talk with David.
Everyone is invited. Tickets cost £1 and are available from JASSPA’s reception from Saturday 2nd February. We are limited to 220 seats so please buy early to avoid disappointment. All proceeds will go to Musequality.
I hope that as many Jasspa music pupils as possible will come and support this event. It is a great opportunity to see and hear your teachers and David Juritz perform and is intended to give all pupils the inspiration to take part in the second half of our fund raising for Musequality….. a Sponsored Music Practice Fortnight.
SPONSORED MUSIC PRACTICE FORTNIGHT
From Sunday 24th February a two week period of sponsored practice will start for all Jasspa music pupils. We very much hope this will inspire a period of concentrated practice that will reap personal rewards for all those involved whilst supporting a very worthwhile project. At the end of the two week period some pupils may even feel so inspired by their progress to put on their own private concert for family and friends. If anyone does this please do let us know – we would love to see your photos or hear audience comments!
In addition each Jasspa teacher will be nominating one of their pupils for a small award. Every music teacher will choose one pupil who in their opinion has become involved with this practice fortnight in the most committed way, from the highest number of sponsors, to outstanding musical effort or improvement, or perhaps innovation – putting on your very own concert at home with an invited audience!
However you choose to become involved, we very much hope you take the time to read on and find out about the charity. If you are unable to attend the concert or take part in the sponsored practice you may like to make a donation instead. This is possible at our reception after half term.
We at Jasspa are all very excited about the concert and sponsored practice and hope that you too enjoy the planned events. Select here for full details and sponsorship forms.
