Past JYT productions have included ‘Annie’, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and ‘Bodywork’ and have successfully featured casts aged 8-18years. However, with a limit to the number of pieces available for such an age range and taking in to account JYT’s last production, ‘Bugsy Malone’,  it is now the turn of our older pupils to take centre stage. In the meantime all under 14’s should continue to take part in dance and drama classes to keep performance skills developing.

JYT will return  to JASSPA next summer with a production of the musical ‘GREASE’ and a cast of 14-18yr olds under the direction of Joanna Billington and Simone Waller . There will also be a new, shorter course for budding theatrical technicians covering lighting, sound, props and stage management. Further details will be available towards the end of the autumn term.

AUDITIONS – Entry to JYT is by audition, with places being awarded on merit. No previous experience is required to try out for this project but a flair for performing is essential.  Auditions include improvisation, script work, dance and singing. Past JYT members will audition alongside new students. Auditions cost £5 per student, payable on the day. Audition dates are as follows:

JYT DATES - Summer 2009 – It is essential that all company members are available for the entire schedule. In some instances rehearsals may be staggered eg. lead parts rehearse in the morning with full cast in the afternoon.

FEES are yet to be established for this project, but will be known by Christmas 2008. If your son/daughter also has music lessons at Jasspa please note they will not be able to attend them on 5th and 12th September 2009 due to JYT rehearsals. These lessons will be forfeited.

We are actively seeking sponsorship for this project.

SCHOLARSHIPS – at the discretion of JASSPA full scholarships will be offered to two pupils who, in the opinion of the auditioning team show outstanding potential, talent and focus during auditions. These scholarships will cover the entire fees for the summer 2009 course. In the event of more than two deserving applicants, the scholarships may be split into four half awards, each worth exactly half fees.
