Big Band Holiday Workshop
Join us as we explore new sounds, grooves and rhythms from around the world. This course covers standard Big Band repertoire and introduces fundamental jazz skills such as call and response, riffing and the blues. There is also time spent listening to and discussing contemporary performers / music.
All instruments welcome - instrumentalists should be of a good grade 2+ standard but need no Jazz experience. Up to grade 8’s welcome. The final day culminates with a performance in JAPS Hall. Family and friends are invited to the performance. Select here for an application form.

BIG BAND TUTORS – Luke Annesley, Jim Howard and guest bass/rhythm tutor
Luke Annesley is a freelance musician, playing with his own quartet and many other orchestras. As well as recording and TV work he teaches saxophone at Dulwich College.
Jim Howard performs with jazz and contemporary music groups including his own band Hill of Beans. He teaches brass at JASSPA and DCPS, leads music workshops and is a composer for film / TV.
