Music
Music is a vibrant and major part of school life. Music is taught in half-class and whole-class groups in the Preprep and Middle School, plus a year group singing lesson in the Preprep. Year two are offered private individual instrumental lessons in piano, clarinet or violin. In the Middle School, many pupils also have private individual instrumental lessons from a choice of the following:
'Cello, Clarinet, Cornet, Flute, French Horn, Guitar, Harp, Percussion, Piano, Recorder, Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, Viola, Violin, Voice
Weekly music activities include:
Middle School: Aural clubs, Brass Ensemble, Concert Band, Flute Ensemble, Junior Choir, Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Recorder Consort, Senior Choir, String Quartet, String Orchestra, Theory Club
Preprep: Choir Club, String Group
Pupils have many opportunities to perform, whether at formal occasions such as evening concerts and plays, or more informally at assemblies and after school concerts. Many also choose to attend JASSPA, James Allen’s Saturday School for the Performing Arts.
